As part of ANA’s commitment to celebrating the culture and music of Japan and Hawaiʻi, the 2026 ANA ʻAha Mele will continue to feature Cliburn Gold Award-winning pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii and Violinist Fumiaki Miura for an intimate concert at the Blue Note Hawaii.

Described by The Observer as the “definition of virtuosity” Japanese pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii (Nobu), who has been blind from birth, won the joint Gold Medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009 and has gone on to earn an international reputation for the passion and excitement he brings to his live performances.
In concert, Nobu has appeared with leading orchestras worldwide including the Mariinsky Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, NHK Symphony, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, Tokyo Symphony and Japan Philharmonic, Seattle and Baltimore symphony orchestras, Münchner Philharmoniker, Filarmonica della Scala and Sinfonieorchester Basel under the baton of conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Vladimir Spivakov, Juanjo Mena and Vasily Petrenko.
As a recitalist, Nobu has performed at major cities across North America including at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium and regularly appears at prestigious venues in Europe such as the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Royal Albert Hall in London, Berlin Philharmonie, and Musikverein in Vienna.

Born in Tokyo, violinist Fumiaki Miura studied under Tsugio Tokunaga before continuing his training in Vienna with Pavel Vernikov and Julian Rachlin, alongside long-term mentorship from Pinchas Zukerman. In 2009, he made history as the youngest-ever First Prize winner of the Joseph Joachim Hannover International Violin Competition. Miura performs globally with elite ensembles—including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Mariinsky Theatre, and NHK Symphony—under the baton of conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel and Valery Gergiev. A passionate chamber musician and recitalist, he has graced stages from London’s Wigmore Hall to the Elbphilharmonie, collaborating with artists like Mischa Maisky and Maria João Pires. Since 2018, Miura has served as the Artistic Director of Suntory Hall ARK Classics, where he routinely performs as both soloist and conductor. Recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia, his discography includes releases with Sony Japan and Avex-Classics, and he performs on the 1732 Guarneri del Gesù “Kaston” violin, kindly on loan from Crystco Inc. and Mr. Hikaru Shimura.
