Amy Laybourn (EP Release!) w/ Peter Donovan, Queen of Hearts
-
Amy Laybourn embraces her 70s roots and delivers a sound drawing from the soul, folk and of that era. Inspired by diverse artists like Carole King, Led Zeppelin and Stevie Wonder she crafts her original voice and uses it to share her story. Amy rediscovered a passion for music in her 40s through a $50 piano spontaneity acquired from Value Village. She slowly grew in skill and confidence, becoming a songwriter, vocalist, guitarist and music teacher. Self growth has consistently been fused with learning music, and her songs reflect that journey, embracing doubt and struggle with a message of hopefulness and love. Creativity and connection are at the heart of Amy’s music and she hopes to inspire others to follow their whispers and find the courage to discover and embrace their true selves.

Peter is an astute musical storyteller. His perceptive songs span genres and feature narratives based on both real-life and fictitious characters, written with a contemplative heart. With his debut album, This Better Be Good, Donovan spreads his wings, combining the plaintive soul of indie rock, the heartfelt sincerity of Americana, and the stirring studio pageantry of ‘70s singer-songwriters, drawing them together to explore more intimate depths. He also writes music for films, most recently contributing three songs to Red Right Hand starring Orlando Bloom. His sophomore album, Community Theatre, is set to release at the end of 2024.
