The dark and charming writer has released seven critically acclaimed solo recordings and has another on the way. She has been awarded Four Stars in Mojo Magazine, critical acclaim from NPR’s Robert Siegel, rave reviews from No Depression, American Songwriter Magazine and more. LaVere’s storytelling and songwriting is barbed and sharp, a cutting contrast to her sweet soprano vocals and smooth, percussive upright bass playing. She has collaborated on recordings with many other artists across the Americana landscape. Notable collaborations include works with The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Luther Dickinson, Todd Snider, Valerie June, Sea Sick Steve, and Johnny Dowd. She has performed in venues as wide ranging as St Andrews Hall in London to famed Memphis dive bar Earnestine and Hazel’s. LaVere performs with guitarist and collaborator Will Sexton who has grown into a skilled musical polymath: an esteemed writer, producer, session player and solo artist with a string of acclaimed LPs to his credit.
