Jade Jackson spent much of her time in the small California town of Santa Margarita, working in
her folks’ restaurant, jotting down verses and picking out chords during breaks.
Growing up in a household without television or internet, the family record player was her main
source of entertainment, revolving a range of artists from Johnny Cash and Hank Williams to
The Smiths, The Cure and assorted punk outfits. At age four her parents discovered she was
legally blind and relied heavily on sound, spurring an interest in music, teaching herself guitar,
and writing songs by age 13.
After high school, Jackson furthered her studies at CalArts in Santa Clarita, CA. However, her
time there was quickly clouded by an arduous recovery process after falling from a rope swing
and breaking her back. Following a battle with addiction to painkillers prescribed during her
recovery, Jackson’s perspective of music pivoted from career-focused to lifeline.
Released in May of 2017, her debut album, Gilded, introduced her preternatural writing and raw,
roots- rough sound. It was followed by her sophomore album, Wilderness, in 2019, both
produced by Social Distortion frontman, Mike Ness. In 2021, Jackson dove into an alternative
Americana sound with the Jackson+Sellers album, Breaking Point, a collaboration project with
singer-songwriter Aubrey Sellers.
Upon moving to Nashville in late 2021, Jackson took her career back into her own hands,
rebuilding the team that initially surrounded her. Jackson plans to release a new batch of singles
via Bitchin’ Music Group in 2024. -
