Havana, Cuba-born percussionist Alexey Marti has been making New Orleans his home since 2008 and tearing up stages all over town. There is no doubt in his skills, as he finished first place in the 2012 Thelonious Monk Jazz Institute Competition for his Afro-Latin Hand Drumming.    With two albums to his name, "Travesia" and "Mundo," Alexey brings together timba, jazz, funk, Afro-Cuban folklore, salsa, son, rumba, and New Orleans rhythms in his original compositions.
