Alan Chan Jazz Orchestra – Celebrates “Shrimp Tale” Debut CD

Friday, October 17th

8:00 PM / $20.00

“Alan is bringing a set of sounds that haven’t been heard before in an L.A. big band.” — Rick Baptist (DownBeat Magazine)

Composer and arranger Alan Chan’s compositions for Jazz big band demonstrate his creative approach across musical genres, with a touch of wittiness and humor. His 17-piece Alan Chan Jazz Orchestra (ACJO) was founded in 2011 and is comprised of first call musicians in Los Angeles.

In April 2013, ACJO launched a fan-funded recording project. A total of nine pieces, with 60 minutes of music, was recorded with a team of 30 musicians and engineers at the Bridge Recording in Glendale, California. The “Rancho Calveras” EP was subsequently released in October 2013 and their full album “Shrimp Tale” is scheduled to be released on July 15th, 2014.
