Ian Ketterer of Among Authors
Indie Rock
As a band, Among Authors delivers "explosive art rock," as mentioned by NPR's Bob Boilen. As a solo act, Ian, the frontman of Among Authors, still manages to deliver the same intensity, but in a much more fragile package. Performing stripped down versions of the band's material, he pushes the limits of where his voice can go dynamically, making it feel as though the voice and piano are one instrument. Among Authors has performed live on KEXP. They've been featured on Emmy award winning live stream series Sessions In Place and have done multiple tours including a national tour which coincided with an invite to Washington DC to perform on NPR Tiny Desk. The band is gearing up for their second studio album, having recently released the first single off the new album called "Fears We Hold" which was featured on NPR's All Songs Considered and was featured as KEXP's Song of The Day. Some Press: • NPR’s own Bob Boilen said: “I was stunned by the rock band Among Authors and its original take on music that’s akin to Radiohead and explosive art rock.“ • KEXP wrote: “If you haven’t heard the name Among Authors yet, you’re about to hear it a lot. The Seattle-based band are on a hot streak after the release of their debut album, I Am Become, last year. Thanks, in part, to Kevin Cole’s support of the band but, mostly, from the incredible music they make. Their take on atmospheric art-rock is something few are doing at the moment and they are doing it very very well.”
