“I was alone, unpacking boxes in the strange old craftsman I rented a room in during my divorce. Out of nowhere my computer turned on and started playing Townes Van Zandt’s ‘For the Sake of the Song’. I shivered. I melted. I picked up my guitar and wrote ‘If Not The Man’”
Years later, in an "about damn time" kind of moment, Seattle based singer-songwriter Caitlin Sherman is stepping out solo. She’s had her fair share of collaborations over the years, most notably the cosmic psych rock of Evening Bell and the hazy noir of Slow Skate. As a songwriter and arranger in both projects, she also held the role of girlfriend and wife. Now she is neither.
Death To The Damsel is a meditation on love lost and independence found in the wake of back to back romantic/musical entanglements. Each song an act to unbind oneself from the past in order to look forward. There will be no White Knight to free the damsel. It’s high time she untie herself from those tracks and make a move. “Find me a fire, I’ll find the escape, an exit from all that we built an invisible stairway, hidden from shame for a quick getaway.” And so that “heroine without a hero needed” emerged with ten songs charting her own path. Dark contemplative songwriting explored through fresh unpredictable pop sensibility, dripping with art and purpose.
Longtime friend Colin J Nelson produced, mixed and engineered the album in his Fremont studio Her Car. And while past projects incorporated vast soundscapes and string arrangements written by Sherman herself, she made the decision to stick to a set band sound making sure the song itself was the centerpiece. The pair worked to carve out a sound that protected the intimacy of the lyric and emotion with a studio band that could react to those dynamic needs.

Indie Rock
Chris King & The Gutterballs know the secret to creative success; movement is key to progress. Whether by gust of tornado-wind or rubber against the road, to push forward is all there is in a life, buoyed and scarred by love. The band infuses this propelling urgency in all of its performances, into all of its songs and it starts with King’s dynamic, uncorked-fire-hydrant of a voice.
The band has played significant festivals like Treefort (Boise, ID), Off-Beat (Reno, NV) and the Capitol Hill Block Party (Seattle, WA). In 2019, Chris King & The Gutterballs opened for the famed California crooning-rock band, The Growlers, and recorded their first in-studio at the acclaimed radio station, KEXP. In addition, the group was featured on Seattle Channel’s Art Zone with Nancy Guppy and 107.7 The End’s Locals Only radio show.
Now after a recent six-state tour, the band was poised for a 2020 repeat adventure or so they thought they were. The road calls, after all. Maybe they’ll see you next fall (2021) at a venue near you. One thing is for sure, their feet want new sidewalks, their songs want new rooms and Chris King & The Gutterballs are ready to oblige.

Roots Rock
Peter Donovan
Peter Donovan
Roots Rock
Peter is an astute musical storyteller. His perceptive songs span genres and feature narratives based on both real-life and fictitious characters, written with a contemplative heart. With his debut album, This Better Be Good, Donovan spreads his wings, combining the plaintive soul of indie rock, the heartfelt sincerity of Americana, and the stirring studio pageantry of ‘70s singer-songwriters, drawing them together to explore more intimate depths. He also writes music for films, most recently contributing three songs to Red Right Hand starring Orlando Bloom. His sophomore album, Community Theatre, is set to release at the end of 2024.
