Jazz
Bassist Morgan Blaney spent the large majority of her pre-University years in her hometown of
Buffalo, Wyoming, learning to play music through not only the traditional scholastic venues, but
also the local bluegrass scene. Learning bass in the bluegrass style allowed for an entirely aural
education in place of sheet music and practice books. Come high school, the jazz genre lured
her in with its promise of adventurous harmony and opportunities for expanding her aural
knowledge. She chose to double major in Jazz and Bluegrass Performance at the University of
Northern Colorado in Greeley, and is set to graduate in May of 2023. When not in school, she
tours with a bluegrass band and instructs at a number of music camps.
