He'll be joined by renowned Irish bassist Cormac O'Brien, one of Ireland's leading jazz musicians and educators, and celebrated Chicago drummer Vincent Davis, an internationally respected jazz percussionist, composer, and educator. About the performers:
Gediminas Karkauskas is a jazz and classically trained pianist who has been based in Dublin, Ireland, for more than 25 years. He has performed extensively throughout Europe and the Baltic States at prestigious venues and festivals, including Dublin’s National Concert Hall, London’s The Archduke, and Carnegie Hall in New York, where he performed in 2024 and 2026. His 2020 debut album, Lost Suite, received international acclaim, spent 15 weeks on the U.S. jazz charts, and was named one of the year’s top jazz albums by Jazzfuel. Gediminas now returns to Chicago with his trio while preparing new original material for his second album, scheduled for release in 2027.
Cormac O’Brien is one of Ireland’s leading double bassists, as well as a composer, educator, and collaborator on the international jazz and contemporary music scene. He is Assistant Professor and Chair of the B.A. in Jazz and Contemporary Music at Dublin City University and has toured extensively throughout Europe and North America, performing in cities including Berlin, Paris, London, New York, and Chicago. His prestigious performance credits include Carnegie Hall with pianist Gediminas Karkauskas, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, the Barbican Centre, Le Duc des Lombards, and Dublin’s National Concert Hall. Known for his lyrical approach, versatility, and impeccable musicianship, O’Brien has collaborated across jazz, improvised music, classical crossover, and contemporary genres.
Born in Chicago, Vincent Davis is an internationally acclaimed jazz percussionist, composer, and educator whose career spans performances, recordings, and teaching around the world. Growing up surrounded by rock, jazz, and gospel, he developed a diverse musical foundation before moving to Milwaukee in 1979 to study at the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music. There, he studied jazz drum set performance under renowned drummer and mentor Manty Ellis, laying the foundation for his distinguished international career.
