A Celebration of Latin Music with Justo Almario & Jeremy Bosch
Two masters of the Latin jazz tradition share the Majestic Ventura Theater stage on July 25th for a night that will be pure rhythm, soul, and fire. Colombian-born saxophone legend Justo Almario, a forerunner of the Latin jazz movement in the United States, brings his Afro-Colombian jazz ensemble and music from his newly released album Alegria. Rising Puerto Rican star Jeremy Bosch, one of the most electrifying young voices in salsa and Latin jazz today, fronts his own orchestra in a show built for dancing. Two distinct sounds, two separate orchestras, one extraordinary night: Almario's deeply rooted Colombian jazz tradition meeting Bosch's high-energy salsa fire.
Full Schedule:

Justo Almario
Jazz
A living legend of Latin jazz, Colombian-born Justo Almario is a saxophone virtuoso, composer, arranger, and longtime UCLA jazz faculty member who was among the first artists to bring Afro-Colombian and Latin jazz traditions to American audiences, helping lay the groundwork for a movement. His influence runs so deep that Colombia has named a festival in his honor. Discovered by Mongo Santamaria while studying at Berklee College of Music, he went on to perform and record alongside Charles Mingus, Freddie Hubbard, Tito Puente, Herb Alpert, and Cachao, appearing on multiple Grammy-winning recordings along the way. A master of soprano and tenor saxophone, clarinet, and flute, Almario fuses Latin, Afro-Cuban, South American, funk, and jazz into something entirely his own. At VMF, he performs music from his newly released album Alegria, a celebration of Afro-Colombian jazz and a testament to a career built on joy, mastery, and generosity of spirit.

At just 33, three-time Grammy Award-winner Jeremy Bosch is already one of the most compelling voices in salsa and Latin jazz today. Raised in Puerto Rico, he studied at Berklee College of Music and built his career performing alongside legends including Eddie Palmieri and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra before making his headline debut at Lincoln Center. A gifted songwriter as well as a performer, Bosch's music draws on Afro-Caribbean rhythms, his deep Christian faith, and a storyteller's instinct for emotional truth. His Latin Grammy-nominated album Epílogo: La Clave del Tiempo was followed by The Gospel According to Salsa, nine original compositions that transform biblical narrative into tropical sound. On stage fronting his own orchestra, he is magnetic, joyful, and impossible to resist.
