5 MILE BRASS, an eight piece Rock-Hop brass band from Mobile, AL, is set to release their 3rd studio album in April 1 of 2023. "Our Duty" is the band's attempt to flatten the curve between being the band nerds and the cool kids. This self-produced album takes the band's influences of Jazz, Rock, & Hip-Hop music and fuses them together seamlessly. They do this by incorporating rocking progressions, improv jazz/funk solos, & hip-hop pocket beats deeper than the maroon pants they wear. All of this combined with the energetic rapping style of Michael Jolly (alto sax/vocals). "This album wasn't made for everyone, but everyone is made to enjoy it,” says Brett Harrington (Sousaphone). The title track "Our Duty" is the perfect introduction to the accompanying seven songs, all telling one story. Our Duty" is the band's 3rd studio project release since their debut album "Hitting the Road" (2020, followed by "thE.Pandemic" (2021), where the band found their sound in regards to original tunes. The EP had 3 original tunes that paved a unique genre for the band today.  "Our Duty" is compiled of 8 original tunes and a remix of one of their favorite jazz standards like you have never heard it before.  The band spent a week recording at the world famous Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN with some of the best in the recording business, along with several guest artists. Many smaller sessions were spent in Mobile’s Dauphin Street Sound and 880 Records, a studio on the campus of University of Mobile, where the founding members met and started the band. "Every album we've put out represents us in the moment… this is the best we have ever been and we won't stop till pig fly" says the band.
