Without doubt the biggest electronic party in New York city is Girls and Boys - the 2000+ people party that features some of the biggest and most cutting edge names in dance music such as MSTRKRFT, Justice, deadmau5, Simian Mobile Disco, Vitalic, A-Trak, Crookers, Bloody Beetroots, Boys Noize, Rusko, Neon Indian and many, many more. Every Friday for well over a year, the Grand Ballroom at Webster Hall has been transformed into a packed room of electro kids, hands in the air in appreciation of the throbbing distorted bass and electronic beats that have altered the landscape of dance music in America over the last few years.

Like the mythological 12th Planet (popularized by controversial author Zecharia Sitchin), our 12th Planet flies perpendicular to the system. His beats are off axis and his subsonic frequencies send you into your own orbit. America's first king of dubstep is ready for impact.

  • Ac Slater

AC Slater has established himself as one of the most in demand remixers and producers in the world right now and his growing reputation is showing no signs of slowing down.

Raised on 90's Hip-Hop and nourished by old school rave, AC has cultivated these influences to give birth to his own style of music production. A pioneer in the current electro and heavy bass sound, AC is one of the most talked about and sought after dance artists around. His tracks consistently top the Hype Machine and radio airplay charts, most notably his remix of the international hit "Show Me Love" by Robin S and his remix of underground classic "Turn The Music Up" being voted one of Moby's top 10 tracks of the decade.

With huge support from DJ's worldwide, the likes of Armand Van Helden, Crookers, Diplo, Laidback Luke, Fatboy Slim and his brother in bass Drop The Lime can't show enough respect for his work.

His debut single for the hugely influential Trouble & Bass label ‘Take You', was received with massive acclaim and helped add more force to his already burgeoning reputation. After collaborations with Drop The Lime, AC has just dropped the eagerly anticipated ‘Calm Down Trilogy EP' which is ripping through club speakers and setting dance floors alight around the world.

Keep your ear to the ground.

    • You might have heard of a badass little place in Australia that goes by the name of Bondi Beach. It’s a gem of a spot on the map, well known for its laid back lifestyle and surfer-ready waves. But there’s something else this sweet coastal hangout is recognised for producing – and that’s one of Australia’s most promising DJ/producers, Hook N Sling.

Yet while this talent hails from what you might call a more-than-mellow scene, it would be a mistake to equate his music as such. On the contrary, the ARIA-nominated Hook N Sling’s ascent has been single-mindedly driven, and backed by meticulously crafted and ever-evolving productions.

Making his biggest early splash was the gold-selling, Hype Machine-topping, YouTube 10-million-spinning 'Take You Higher' (with Goodwill), re-imagining Angus & Julia Stone's "Big Jet Plane" in an unexpected mesh of folk-blues and mainroom house. A year later his breakout #2 Beatport single 'Reason' (with NERVO) made more waves and became a catch-cry anthem for the dance floor (and notched up another 10m+ Youtube count).

Fast-forwarding to 2014, Hook kicked off the year with his epic collaboration with Empire of the Sun, 'Celebrate', showing his unrelenting pursuit of future sounds and unexpected pairings. Soon after came his intensely-anticipated, 'Tokyo By Night', instantly hitting #1 on Beatport and burrowing its way into the hearts and playlists of listeners for some time to come.

Most recently Hook turned heads with a genre-defying and rather aptly-titled weapon named 'Momentum'. Dubbed a 'career-defining track' by Earmilk and 'one of the most pivotal tracks of the year' by Insomniac, the track rightly took out the coveted #1 DMC Buzz Chart spot at ADE and exemplified Hook's own brand of dance music - meticulously crafted, infectiously danceable, and constantly surprising.

HALF SHADOWS reflects the multiple faces of TOKiMONSTA. The Los
    Angeles-based artist and producer
,otherwise known as Jennifer Lee, traverses a few different spheres on her new full-length album. Sonically, she alchemically mingles ethereal electronic moods, while adding R&B flavor and the right amount of hip-hop bounce. The thirteen songs comprising Half Shadows reveal a detailed story.

2012 saw her commence work on what would eventually become her debut
for Ultra Music. As the first female to join Flying Lotus' crew and label, BRAINFEEDER, she
garnered a fervent following within the Los Angeles scene and beyond. Worldwide tastemakers from BBC Radio1, NPR and KCRW to DJ Mag, Pitchfork, The Guardian, MTV, Rolling Stone and SPIN featured her.  Additionally, she was dubbed the "#1 Female DJ in Los Angeles" by LA Weekly. This past year saw her as a featured performer on the Full Flex Express Canadian train tour with Skrillex and Diplo as well as the inaugural SS Coachella music festival cruise. However, HALF SHADOWS opens up her world like never before.

The record flows from beginning to end, following an emotional trajectory. "It brings you somewhere else," affirms Lee. "Everything begins in this strange, dark place. It
goes into a more upbeat, uplifting feeling. It winds down into a more meditative state. You'll feel like you've been on an epic Tolkien-esque journey."

In order to capture that myriad of feelings, she enlisted a diverse array of voices including L.A. singer-songwriter Gavin Turek, British songstress Andreya Triana, and up-and-coming Chicago soul troubadour Jesse Boykins III. On the first single, "The Force," she teams up with rap legend Kool Keith for a wild trip beyond this galaxy.

"He brought me a Dr. Octagon-style verse, which is more than I could have expected," she smiles. "He's a genius, and it was amazing to work with him. Lyrically, this track is sci-fi rap. There's a visual of riding around in a space benz and saying, 'Fuck the galactic police.'"

On the other end of the spectrum, there's the shimmering and blissful "Go With It." Over an entrancing soundscape, MNDR's hypnotic delivery resounds potently. "It's about going with the flow," Lee reveals. "I'm going to take your hand, so just trust me, and roll
with it. You've got to relax sometimes and put your trust and instincts in something or someone else. I've never made a song like this."

There's nothing quite like TOKiMONSTA's sound either. In a day and age, when electronic music is synonymous with the dance floor, she approaches it from a different angle.

"It doesn't always have to be aggressive and party hardy," she insists. "I'm outside of that. There's a different side of electronic music."

The album title also holds a special place in Lee's heart. Plucked from the Haruki Murakami book, Kafka on the Shore, it resembles her approach to art. She explains,
"In the book, they use the term HALF SHADOWS. It's the idea that people walk around with light shadows because they're half in the spiritual world and half in reality. Some part of them isn't here. That really resonated with me."

Ultimately, TOKiMONSTA is welcoming everybody on this otherworldly ride with her. "I wanted this to be a musical odyssey. You leave this planet, and then the music gently places you back on earth."
