Cerebral electronic duo PLAID make a rare stateside appearance here, supporting Scintilli, their first proper studio album since 2003, released on Warp this fall. Since the release of Spokes in 03, PLAID have scored two award-winning films, released an ambitious audio-visual collaboration, Greedy Baby, and continued to perform around the world, including a landmark performance at Warp Records’ 20th Birthday Celebrations. Continuing to create in their own space between hardline techno, broken beat and experimental composition, their casual, unhurried sense of adventure is alive and well on their new effort. COLLAGES, the dream-pop moniker of Chicago’s JESSE BUSTAMANTE, makes its debut appearance at the Bottle tonight playing tracks off the hauntingly lovely Night Forages EP – an effort that plays like GRIZZLY BEAR outtakes, full of keys, guitars, electronics and looping, other-worldly vocals. (Big Shot) (The Deli Magazine) (New City) (Time Out)
