Charity Joy Brown
Alternative
Charity Joy Brown is a San Diego-born, Los Angeles-based artist, songwriter, and producer redefining the edges of pop through what she calls psychedelic anti-pop, a hazy, genre-blurring mix of indie, alternative R&B, and experimental pop. Originally a guitarist for the band Cruza, her transition into a solo project marks a more personal and sonically exploratory direction.
Producing her own music, Charity builds immersive sonic worlds rooted in layered textures, warped instrumentation, and subtle unpredictability. Her vocal delivery feels both detached and deeply intimate, drifting through songs that balance structure with abstraction, hook-driven, but never obvious.
Her debut project, I Hope They Love Me Anyways, captures this approach in full, an emotionally honest body of work that leans into vulnerability, ambiguity, and self-reflection. At its core, her music challenges traditional pop form, favouring mood and emotional depth over formula, resulting in a sound that feels instinctive, atmospheric, and distinctly her own.
