Claiming to be the lovechild of MARIAH CAREY, PRINCE, ABBA and GRIMES, Chicago's K. SERRA is the electro-pop solo project of RACHEL SARAH THOMAS and tonight she's celebrating the release of her newest record. THOMAS writes and records all the music on her albums herself to create a heavily processed acoustic sound from tape loops, non-traditional instruments, doombeg and vintage keyboards. K. SERRA brings it live, too, performing solo with pre-recorded sample triggering and a stunning, operatic voice that can't be matched. Returning to our stage tonight is Chicago’s own LOVE AND RADIATION, an outfit that blends distorted guitars, synth lines and programmed drums into dance-influenced spirit pop. Weaving narratives of transition and transformation with haunting vocals and dark, lyrical imagery, L&R’s debut record was released in early April of this year. Bring your Visine and show up early for WHEN CLOUDS ATTACK’s unique blend of electronic tinkering and post-rock instrumentalism with visual projections that will blow eyes, ears and minds.
