GARDENS & VILLA channel all the taut pop precisions of 90s Britpop of bands like BLUR and send it through an 80s synth filter both undeniably coastal and modern. It's Spoon's Kill The Moonlight lost in a daydream, but with that same hungry energy. Gardens & Villa may simultaneously pull from GARY NUMAN, The KINKS and odder prog within one composition. And like a fine sweet tea, it's made with just the right amount of sugar -- though even the most upbeat tunes have an undercurrent of the bittersweet and the lost at heart. At a mere 21 years old, SANDY ALEX G, seems poised for a prodigious career with 5 albums under his belt already. It’s his most recent release DSU though that has people’s heads spinning. The music is dark and moody yet cathartic. Impeccably produced for someone home recording most of their work ALEX has a great sense of melody and listeners are immediately invited in to a record that recalls the nostalgic sound of BUILT TO SPILL without ever coming close to feeling like another BUILT TO SPILL rip off. We can all be thankful for that, but even more, we can be thankful that we get to witness this young artist, no one can say where he’ll go next, but he’s already arrived at a pretty special place.  A psychedelic dream–pop band that has been successfully transplanted from the Champaign-Urbana music scene in recent years, SANTAH features beautiful harmonies from the brother/sister guitarists that only those good ol' blood ties can provide. Their latest elease, the Awwh Man EP, has the band creating synthesized sounds with sharp guitar/synth tones combined with stark moments that let the bass, drums, and singers get personal.

Santah was born with their heads in the clouds and their feet stuck in the dirty ground. Luckily, right before they grew up for good, a tidal wave swept them up, quick as can be, and sent them teetering across the continent. They howled in confusion when that water came, arms all flailing, their faces purple as raisins. But they rolled back their eyes and just like that, they were in some holy home, right there in their own head, right there on that ocean, riding a wild and blurry-eyed vision, just being the most confused and luckiest boys to ever live or die in the whole goddamn world, just like that, all over the place.
