The DOOMTREE collective, a prolific pack of Minnesota musicians, make their Bottle debut here tonight and we’re looking forward to experiencing their underground legendary explosive live shows with blatant disregard for the conventions of any genre, on display most recently on No Kings.  All seven members of DOOMTREE have built solo careers as rappers, producers or DJs, but when they take the stage together they’re an unstoppable storm.  Borrowing from punk, classical, obscure rock and experimental musical forms, DOOMTREE manipulate contagious synth lines, layers of percussion and infectious melodies into a sound truly unlike any other.  Chicago’s own NALEDGE, one half of the alternative hip-hop duo KIDZ IN THE HALL makes his first appearance at the Bottle tonight.  Praised for an “impressively smooth and lyrical flow and delivery” by XXL, we’re excited to hear his new solo work.  Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, FESS GRANDIOSE began as an MC at 17 and has added DJ and producer to his resume.  On his Life in Lo-Fi…Vol 1, his ability as a lyricist and producer explodes from crappy computer speakers.

Evans grew up in the Southside neighborhood of Chicago. The son of mental health experts, Dr. Robert Evans and Dr. Helen Evans, Naledge displayed lyrical ability at an early age and by fourteen he had become a member of a local Chicago-based rap group called FFC (Famous From the Chi). In addition to his early musical accomplishments, he demonstrated an interest in academics, writing and publishing a book entitled “The Straight Jab” at the age of 16. Upon his graduation from Luther South High School, he attended the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school, where he majored in Communications with a minor in Sociology. At Penn, Naledge became a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. While attending college he met classmate Michael Aguilar, a hip-hop producer now known as Double-O. The two began working together and formed the hip-hop group Kidz in the Hall.

In an industry that prizes pigeonholes, Fess Grandiose brings something new to the industry: versatility. Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, he began as a MC at 17. Now Fess is a triple threat: an MC, DJ, and producer. From the lyrics, to production, down to the scratching, Fess holds complete control of his music. He prides himself on passionately staying true to hip-hop while soulfull...y adding his own personal inspirations--classic rock, funk, electronica. DJing his own set while performing along side live drums and keys are just part of the repertoire that sets him apart. Booking Fess in not just another rap performance; it's a grandiose event, where new school Hip-Hop meets vintage vibes. You'll be wondering what comes next...
