Featuring heavily sampled beats, and grooves that'll jaw your head back and forth, rapper DENMARK VESEY makes his Bottle debut, helping us close out January in style. Collabing with Chicago's own emcee/producer SCUD ONE, VESEY's lyricism hits on social notes with a free form attack on authority, the abuse of money and power, and religion. Their latest project, Cult Classic (Dirty Science), mirrors a social commentary through the imagined life of an aspiring rapper turned cult leader, that "touches on many prevailing vices that reality throws at us, while also acting on Denmark's own experiences growing up in Detroit."  The motivated rapper uses a positive, experienced-based mantra in hopes of building the community for the better. The latest release scored a 4.2 (of 5) on HipHopdx's chart, echoing the album's "raw indulgence and callous honesty." BIG KITTY & THE BEAST come from opposite spectrums of the globe to create something bold and inspiring. M.U.T.T. aka BIG KITTY comes to us all the way from Ghana and HANK MCCOY aka THE BEAST was born in the swamps of Florida. With a live presence to envy, these two artists on stage is something to behold. The energy is contagious and they enjoying touching on all spectrums of Hip Hop Culture. They turn up, they mellow out, they rap about crazy things... and together they will fuck you up! DEATH BY ICON opens tonight's all Chicago hip-hop show, returning to our stage for the first time since playing the 119 showcase back in July of 2014. The the duo pieces heavy drums, odd flows, and crooked harmonies together into a combination of the early Chicago juke scene and today's pop culture.

    Denmark Vessey

In the wake of nu hip hop, Detroit native Denmark Vessey maintains the signature “soft-as-concrete, beautiful/ugly” Motor City sound all too well. From d-boy to b-boy, armed with industry quality music production, Denmark makes his presence felt in a lasting matter behind the boards and on the mic.

Initially, Denmark just rhymed over beats. However he developed an interest for making beats and pursued his new passion fervently. Over the years, hard work coupled with progressive leaps in production enabled Denmark to work with and provide music for some of Detroit’s most respected artists. DJ Houseshoes (official tour dj for Mayer Hawthorne), Slum Village, Guilty Simpson (Stones Throw), Danny Brown (Fools Gold), Dwele (Grammy Award Winning Singer for Kanye West’s Flashing Lights), Monica Blaire, L’Renee, and D12, just to name a few.

In 2008, along with Crown Nation (www.crown-nation.com) homie/member Quelle Life, Denmark relocated to Chicago and released the crew’s debut LP “Slut Bag Edition”. Along with the help of DJ Houseshoes, the LP landed on the shelves of the much venerated/now shuttered Fat Beats as one of the last albums released at their NY and LA stores. In 2010, Denmark took the reigns of his career and was instrumental in bringing legendary hip hop group Slum Village to Chicago for their farewell performance. This move not only provided Denmark a higher profile locally, but augmented his D.I.Y. ethos. Now Denmark (Crown Nation activist/Rapper/Song Writer Producer) is seizing every day and bringing back ’96 through beats, love and rhyme.

Big Kitty & The Beast come from opposite spectrums of the globe. They've come together...they are here to build...or are they here to destroy?

M.U.T.T. aka Big Kitty comes to us all the way from Ghana. He's crossed the Atlantic Ocean to crumble buildings and make the whole continent his personal litter box. He's also a brilliant cook.

Hank McCoy aka The Beast was born in the swamps of South Florida. He quit wrestling Alligators and other ferocious creatures of the glades to come to Chicago and pursue his dream of inflicting vigilante justice.

Death By Icon came together at Chicago's Classick Studios as Vic (songwriter), Dook (producer) and Ant (co-producer/songwriter) began to experiment with their sound in early 2012. Influenced by a combination of the early Chicago juke scene and today's pop culture, DBI paints quite the pallet of colors by piecing heavy drums, odd flows, and crooked harmonies together to landscape their music.
