Formed in 1992, CHERUBS emerged on the Austin, TX, LSD punk scene with a jackhammer of nightmarish, rhythm-driven song structures and plenty of Butthole Surfers whimsy and terror to keep things more than interesting. Fast forward 20 years later and the band has reformed with more energy and songwriting acumen then ever. In 2015 they released their first album in 20 years, 2 Ynfynyty, sounding more dangerous than ever while trekking down a few unexpected turns. Effortlessly mixing distorted heaviness with sublime songcraft, the album proves that the trio's two decade hiatus was well worth the wait.
Returning to us for the first time since last month when they opened night two of PELICAN's #EB25 run is one of Chicago's finest trios, the heavier-than-hell SWEET COBRA. The Chicago trio makes some of our favorite brain-battering rock and has remained a cornerstone of Chicago's heavy music scene for over ten years now. Consistently bashing us against the wall and throwing us to the gutter, SWEET COBRA combine plodding, ominous riffs with thunderous drums and caveman vocals, turning it up to 11 for a whole new level of ass-kickery.
Four-piece noise brutes RASH brings their gruff mix of noise, punk and hardcore. Signed to High Fashion Industries, a DIY label run out of Chicago, RASH has proven themselves as a vital force in the underground punk and hardcore scene. With four progressive releases in four years under their belt, the band has no intention of slowing down.
