We're jazzed as hell to welcome MARNIE STERN back to the Bottle, this time in support of her brilliantly-titled The Chronicles of Marnia, a new LP out March 19th via Kill Rock Stars, that has the indie world is buzzing in anticipation of what "the lady who shreds" will bring us next. Still showcasing her dizzying guitar work filled with cascading hooks and transcendental riffs, the new tracks pull her vocals out of the murky, interweaving guitar lines to make for a thrilling, emotionally stirring listen. We can't wait to hear the new record in full and have her back to the Bottle for our very own Date With MARNIE STERN. Baltimore’s ROOMRUNNER has risen from the ashes of debilitating post-punk trio DOUBLE DAGGER to attack listeners with their off-kilter guitar abuse in the vein of U.S. MAPLE, CHAVEZ and POLVO. Building songs off huge radio rock riffs, written and recorded by former DD drummer DENNY BOWEN, ROOMRUNNER are as punishing as they are catchy, and their 2012 12” Super Vague clocks in at 12-minutes of straight-up brutality. This is a rock band – come enjoy their live rock music that Pitchfork hails for its “fit of vintage-amp and drum set torture.” Local trio MAYOR DALEY opens with their distinctly apocalyptic noise-rock that shatters ear drums and rattles insides. Playing lurching, eerie and sludgy rock, the Chicago Reader says witnessing MAYOR DALEY live "feels an awful lot like cheating death."

"Stern's second release is a pop record for an alternate dimension, where hooks and choruses are sent careening through a cracked kaleidoscope. It's also deeply personal compared to the conceptual leanings of her previous work. One of Venus magazine's "Greatest Female Guitarists Of All Time", Spring 2008 issue. Nominated for "Female Artist Of The Year" in the 2008 Plug Music Awards."

Roomrunner (2010-present) is the new band of Denny Bowen (Double Dagger, Dan Deacon Ensemble, Yukon, etc). Their first EP was released in November 2011 following the final shows of Double Dagger. Their follow-up EP, “Super Vague,” was released in May 2012 to a 7.9 on Pitchfork and much critical acclaim.

“And in concert Roomrunner destroy. Literally. The band’s sets are frequently brought to a close in a fit of vintage-amp and drumset torture. At the freaky arm-waving height of charismatic church services, sometimes worshippers will jump out of their pews to sprint a few spirit-fueled laps around the pulpit.” – Pitchfork

“(Spinning) is aural proof that no one kid can ever grow up on too much Nirvana. A killer burst of noise-pop bliss that odes to the 90s without kissing too much ass.” – Impose Magazine
