21 years and over
"One-man pop band" WILD NOTHING is the project of young Virginian songwriter JACK TATUM and his band rolls into Chicago to support the release this year's widely-acclaimed release Nocturn, out via Captured Tracks. The record blends woozy synths, accoustic strummin' and a syrupy baritone that'll make your knees go weak and is an essential listen for any lovers of dream-pop and chilled-out indie-rock. Pitchfork gave it the BNM stamp and says Tatum is "simply one of the best songwriters in his field." High praise, but well deserved. Buzzy in their own right and quickly on-the-rise, Brooklyn's DIIV come at us in support of their own Captured Tracks release, Oshin, and we're stoked to welcome these floorgazing rockers to our stage. Equally indebted to shoegaze as they are propulsive Kraut, California psych and crunchy 80s indie-rock, Impose claims it's "music swishing inside a washing machine from the 1980s, stuck in an eternal spin cycle that somehow sighs summer between the suds." JIMMY WHISPERS is the solo project from ¼ of local sweethearts LIGHT POLLUTION. His band combines elements of folk and gospel to create their restless, multi-instrumental compositions and we’re excited to welcome back his solo work for tonight's sold out show.
