21 years and over
We are honored to host the debut State side appearance of the new one man band project from Japanese master drummer TATSUYA YOSHIDA, RUINS ALONE. YOSHIDA is one of the most influential composers of experimental music with a background in performances with ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE, RUINS, ZENI GEVA and KOENJI HAYEKKI and RUINS Alone is being called one of the best records of his career. Combining eccentricity and flamboyance and showcasing his extraordinary drumming with compositional brilliance and whimsical vocal acrobatics, YOSHIDA has been compared to HELLA and LIGHTNING BOLT but credited with creating a sound uniquely his own. Tonight will feature YOSHIDA and JIM HAGERTY of YOWIE playing RUINS songs from classic releases Stonehenge and Refusal Fossil as a drum and bass duo. In addition to joining YOSHIDA on stage, YOWIE returns after a four year hiatus from touring and recording. The band has recently reformed and completed their sophomore LP out via Skin Graft Records this fall. Local prog/psych/metal outfit GUZZLEMUG brings a complexity and sophistication to their lush, dense “gutter-grunge.” The band’s dirty sound is overrun with intricate, forward-thinking styles and aesthetics and we are stoked that they’re opening tonight’s exploration in experimentation.
