Additional Information

The one-man project of LUIS VASQUEZ, THE SOFT MOON brings new life to the darkly hypnotic sounds of dark-wave precursors like SUICIDE, JOY DIVISION and BAUHAUS with a stripped-down, lo-fi approach. Similarly inspired by his Afro-Cuban heritage and the wide-open space of the Mojave Desert where he was raised, the San Francisco-based artist’s evolution since its 2009 inception has seen a trio of excellent releases on the esteemed Captured Tracks. 2012’s Zeros was a complete immersion in rumbling, eerie strangeness that continued the path of darkness, claustrophobia and dread Vasquez had been following: A musical wasteland marred by jagged post-punk, atmospheric dark wave and a Motorik tic that gets bodies jerking uncontrollably when witnessed live. THE SOFT MOON's newest LP, Deeper (Captured Tracks), was an intense personal exploration of existence for Vasquez and it drags us further into his dark, euphoric universe once more. He is currently working on his new album, which is planned to be released in 2018.

MATTEO VALLICELLI is making his mark with his new solo electronic music. Best known as the live drummer of THE SOFT MOON, DEATH INDEX, and as a founding member of many renowned Italian punk bands.
