Glitter Creeps is tearing 2017 UP! This Rock/Punk/New Wave queer night has been throwing some of the best damn parties around since bringing their party to the Bottle. Hosted and co-curated by siblings Donnie & Madison Moore of ABSOLUTELY NOT, the monthly showcase was declared Best punk-rock LGBTQ night in Chicago Reader's 2015 Best Of issue and was included in Chicagoist's Best Queer Nightlife In Chicago. Each month brings new and exciting bands from Chicago and beyond to perform on our stage and we're stoked for the lineup that they've put together tonight, which will double as a benefit for Shriner's Hospital.

THE VELCRO LEWIS GROUP is earth's premier acid-rock, space-funk septet. The band twists the aesthetics of Funkadelic, Hawkwind, Temptations, and Black Sabbath into their own living -breathing planet of sound. Lead by Hawk Colman, the brother with the 5 octave range, honky tonk veteran Lawrence Peters singing bass and scrubbing the washboard, and blind growler/Moog-eater, Andy Slater, people can't deny the commands and demands shouted from the stage. Travers Gauntt's Skylab crashing guitars hug and hurt, Alison Hunger's psychic Theremin dances and dives, and Halden Spoonwood's bass playing has more pocket than a pair of overalls, revealing the band to be a source of both confusion and totality. Once it becomes possible to drive an Impala through space and time, VELCRO LEWIS will be hot glued into the tape deck.

Returning for the first time in almost two years is rag-punk trio GLAD RAGS and they’re here to celebrate the release of their debut self-titled album, courtesy of Grandpa Bay Records. They call it “Jazz Fu” and “Randy Newman dance music, which is surprisingly accurate. It’s as bizarre as those genres would suggest and sounds like if Mr. Newman fronted a DIY punk band from Prohibition-era Chicago.

The night starts off with OVEF OW, formerly known as ME JANE. The four-piece began serendipitously in 2011 the same way all great relationships start: at a house party in Logan Square. They’ve been creating captivating indie-rock, post-punk music ever since. While its core sound is edgy and driving, the songs are melodious and carefully crafted.
