21 years and over
THE HOLY CIRCLE is the newest band from Terence Hannum (Synths), Erica Burgner-Hannum (vocals) and Nathan Jurgenson (drums).Terence, who is known for playing in the black metal-influenced/drone group LOCRIAN, takes a completely different route with THE HOLY CIRCLE, pulling elements of R&B, synth-pop, and shoegaze to create something completely new. CLRVYNT debuted "Paris," the first single off their upcoming self-titled record, and praised, "All three of their combined perspectives make for a take on the genre that's darkly enthralling... Basslines and acidic synthesizers wash together beautifully, Burgner-Hannum's voice adding another rich texture to the music. The instrumentation and singing collide, generating a fatally beautiful cacophony of synth." Local outfit NEW CANYONS returns to deliver their extremely likeable take on melodramatic, icy synth pop. The duo has been dominating the Windy City since they're debut album, Everyone is Dark (too true). A little electronic mixed with a little shoegaze, they've blown us away more than once and we're thrilled to have them back. Opening the show is SILENT AGE, a newish post-punk band with members of Chicago's POPULATION and Minneapolis' CLAPS.
