The Pump and Dump is a parents' night out, designed to laugh away a kid-filled day while throwing a few back and remembering who we all were before we had children. Comedian/musician Shayna Ferm and her sidekick, MC Doula, host this raucous evening of comedy, inappropriate music, games, prizes, drinking, swearing and parental commiseration. Live musical performances are spread throughout the evening with songs like “Eat Your F-ing Food” and “When I Die, I Want to Come Back as a Dad.” Audience participation includes playing “Never Have I Ever ” and sharing the "Most F-ed Up Thing Your Kid Did This Week. Shayna and 'Doula have been performing monthly, sold-out shows in Denver, CO since 2012 and started touring this year.
“A giggle goddess to beleaguered moms everywhere, Shayna Ferm has watched her unique showcase, The Pump and Dump: A Parentally Incorrect Comedy Show and Night Out for Once, get bigger and bigger with each successive outing… More holistic in its mission than any other comedy show in town, Pump and Dump curates an entire evening of parental catharsis fueled by cocktails and laughs” - Denver Westword
“An evening of liberty-taking that goes far beyond the usual standup… Sweet salvation.” – Susan Froyd
Jeanie’s humor ranges from sweet and nostalgic to edgy and adult-themed. Her quick observations and no-apology take on teaching, motherhood, and American culture sets herself apart from her peers. Her sharp wit draws on her experiences growing up on the Southside of Chicago, and her years as a public school teacher, to deliver comedy that reaches audiences of all ages, genders, and walks of life.
The Chicago Tribune calls Jeanie’s comedy perspective “fresh”, which is coincidently what Jeanie's dates call her, right before they ask her to pay her half of the bar tab. She has entertained audiences at colleges, casinos, and corporate events, in addition to legendary venues throughout the US. She was recently featured in “Chicago Parents’ Magazine’s Four of Chicago’s Funniest: Stand Up Parents”, as well as featured on Nick Jr.’s Moms’ Night Out stand up special.
