21 years and over
The sonic space cadets in MAN OR ASTROMAN? mashed surf, sci-fi, punk, samples and Tesla coils into a jagged rock juggernaut, touring nonstop in the 90s before burning out at the dawn of the 00s. But the Alabama-based band has rebooted for the 10s, and returns to interface live with us here tonight. After their compellingly fun and wacky active years on Touch and Go, the group took damn-near twelve years to return to the “not-too-distant future” they once sang about with their 2013 record, Defcon 5…4…3…2…1, out on Vessels. We were lucky enough to host them for two sold out shows back in June of 2013 and can't wait to explore the furthest reaches of the known sonic universe with em again this weekend. The PACK A.D. have been growing inexorably since they signed to Mint Records. Drummer MAYA MILLER and guitarist/vocalist BECKY BLACK stormed off the mean streets of East Vancouver with their debut album Tintype in hand and Funeral Mixtape following shortly thereafter, both released by Mint in 2008. Since then, the duo has unleashed their brand of tribal, blues and punk infected garage-rock across North America and Europe and they return here for the first time since packing the house back in early March of this year. Don’t sleep on openers WRAY, either, who are coming all the way from Birmingham, AL to make you dance. Talk about Southern Hospitality! We can’t wait for their record out in mid-July on Communicating Vessels. It’s been said you could play them at a party and people would like it. We think you will do just that when they hit the stage tonight.
