Joe Pug’s story is that of an everyman-done-good. A few years ago, barely out of the University of North Carolina, Pug moved to Chicago at a friend’s suggestion. While there, Pug starting taking part in that city’s vibrant singer-songwriter scene, and eventually released his debut EP, Nation of Heat, in 2008. He applied himself to the rigors of touring, songwriting, and building a DIY network that truly connected fans and turned them into friends. These days, Pug’s diligence to his art and desire to truly create a bond between listeners and artist has paid off. Pug now lives in one of the US’ music capitals, Austin, and has been working with the likes of Steve Earle and The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn. Oh, yeah. And he tours like crazy. Pug and his tunes will be here along with tourmate Amy Cook, whose latest album, Summer Skin, features appearances from Me’Shell N’dgeocello, David Garza, Patty Griffin, and Robert Plant.
