Additional Information

Tonight we’ve teamed up to present a showcase of local and international rock’n’roll power with our friends at HoZac Records, a dynamic independent label that’s released over 100 records in their first six years of operation. Skuzzy, dirty and quite possibly the wildest bands this city has to offer, Chicago’s NONES return to the Bottle for the first time since they opened for Australian sludge-rock kings FEEDTIME way back in March. This time around they’re celebrating the release of their latest 7” – out as part of the HoZac Hookup Club – and the all-girl band fronted by a madman wielding a saxophone and a howl that specializes in shaking your brain will play their spazzy, dissonant noise punk to excessive and gross delight. Hailing from Australia and embracing their homeland’s rough and agitated pub rock history, the collective known as SLUG GUTS make their Empty Bottle debut tonight in support of the Sacred Bones-released Playin’ in Time with the Deadbeat. Their label hails the record for its “menacingly desperate, ugly and malnourished” sound that came together over a year defined by trips to “mental hospital, jail, court trials, death and rehab.” The frightening and aggressive release will surely be scary-fun live and we can’t wait to see and hear what these Aussies conjure up live. It’s no secret to anyone coming here that we’ve got a bit of thing for E.T. Habit, a local super-group of sorts featuring members of HUMAN EYE, PELTS, MICKEY and CURTAINS. These HAWKWINDIAN-heroes released their own 7” on HoZac this year and we’re expecting to be blown away yet again by their wild and unpredictable live show. The only band yet to release anything on HoZac, THE MAN remain a mystery to much of Chicago – ourselves included – and seem to be playing a joke on everyone who tries to find them. Just dig around on their website and you’ll see what we’re talking about, then listen to their two crudely-recorded tracks and you’ll discover one of the best kept secrets seeping beneath Chicago’s garage and punk scene. Growly vocals, propulsive drums and an old school rock’n’roll snarl are the weapons of choice for THE MAN, and they bring it for reals both on record and on stage. Get here early to avoid missing a damn good show and if you see Todd or Brett from HoZac, give em a kiss for us!
