We are pleased as punch to welcome Empty Bottle favorites BLUE RIBBON GLEE CLUB to celebrate their 5th anniversary with us here tonight with the promise that “all groups and acts have past and present members involved.” Chicago’s thirty-member BLUE RIBBON GLEE CLUB are a punk rock choir that transforms songs by the likes of FUGAZI, THE CLASH, THE BLACK LIPS, SLEATER KINNEY and THE PIXIES into a capella anthems, “with a reckless enthusiasm for which glee is really the only proper synonym,” according to The Chicago Tribune. Tonight they are joined by MAZES - an outfit that has been praised by NPR for their “rich, evocative images, like shattered dreams, long lines, exploding soda cans, black hearts, and dark forests, accompany jaunty guitar solos, upbeat piano interludes, and cheery duets to create an intriguing mix of lows and highs” - charming organ-driven trio THE DUST BUNNIES and 60s pop throw back maestros THE SWEATS. LOOTAPES, THE STAR OF ALBANY PARK, THE LEMASTERS and GINA’S OUTERSPACE EXPERIENCE all chip in and DEMONS! DJ throughout the night. Come on down and party!
