Hey look – another kick-ass garage rock band from San Francisco! While TY SEGALL and THEE OH SEES are receiving much of the national attention from the city by the bay’s dense and fruitful garage rock community, SIC ALPS have slipped below the radar and released one of the best albums of the year, a self-titled LP out via Drag City. Injecting a hefty dose of California-cool to leader MIKE DONOVAN’s fuzzy, distortion-heavy songwriting, SIC ALPS’ 60s psych stylings blended with shambolic, disoriented rhythms make for a entirely unique listen that sounds nothing like its contemporaries’ work. Mellowed out and focused, a stark contrast to the aforementioned bands’ hill-bombing freakouts, Sic Alps has been praised by Dusted Magazine for being “content in the Golden State’s fields of lysergic relaxation.” Local experimental, noise musician and ex-SCISSOR GIRLs leader turned piano balladress AZITA brings her hauntingly beautiful, sublimely minimal piano-based compositions to tonight's show. Displaying a softer, much more accessible side as a solo artist than with her past no wave bands, AZITA’s 2011 LP Disturbing The Air is a stark and melodic at its core while showcasing her emotional and ethereal vocals. Reverb-heavy sludgey punk rockers THE FUNS kick things return to the Bottle tonight to kick things off with a wild, unpredictable and disaster-friendly set.
