She speaks in tongues is power! Front woman Kate McCandless channels many voices and spirits on vocals - clad in a shapeless, burlap sack dress, with her looping pedal and one stringed guitar. Daniel Majiid ( Panoramic and True; Deep Sea Mammal) on Bass; Eric Schmidt on Lead Guitar; Adrian Vigliano (The Clams) on Drums; and Nigel Harsch on Samples. They're new single and music video gloria, G-U-I-T-A-R! from developing album of the same title will be released September 2012. she speaks in tongues is based in Chicago.
We're a band from Knoxville, and the same old things over and over get old, so here's something fresh, we hope.
NAMES DIVINE
Names Divine is the live multiplication of Kendra Calhoun's solo recording project, Call Me On the Allophone that began in 2006 in Washington, DC. Later transplanting to Chicago to be among a more concentrated jazz, noise, and visual scene. The music imitates these influences by playing a style of clean electric guitar and when lucky, live performances also feature symbolic percussion, fiddle, bass, harmonica, saxophone and/or flute. Names Divine is self-classified as Potato Rock/Parapsych (jazz/noise/country inspired psychedelic/minimal/no wave/blues) and is often described as simply tragic.
