Hoptoberfest, Grand Rapids, MI
21 years and over
HoptoberFest 2012 will return to the city's downtown streets Sept. 15 and 16 with an even larger lineup of Michigan breweries and a free Sunday brunch the morning after the festival - all for the same $10 ticket price as last year.
HopCat has expanded the outdoor beer and music festival into a two-day event, included breweries from across the state, diversified the entertainment lineup, and will host more than 2,000 people at the WORLD'S LARGEST BEER BRUNCH on the final day of the fest.
HoptoberFest will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 15 at noon and run until 11 p.m., featuring a daylong showcase of Michigan breweries and local, regional, and national bands. More than 6,000 people are expected to attend, nearly doubling the total from 2011. The event has also expanded its footprint with plans to close Ionia St. SW between Weston and Oakes streets.
Saturday's ticket holders are invited free of charge to Sunday's outdoor brunch on a first come, first served basis from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Event organizers will admit the first 2,000 HoptoberFest ticket holders for a breakfast buffet. A cash bar will offer locally-brewed craft beer, as well as Bloody Marys and other cocktails.
"Last year's beer fest drew 3,500 people and received a great response from attendees. This year, we're building on that success by making it bigger, better and offering free food, all without raising the price of the ticket," said HopCat owner Mark Sellers. "We expect a record turnout both days with people who want to enjoy a wide range of craft beers from across the state, great entertainment and good food."
Signature beers from approximately 40 Michigan breweries will be on tap all day. HoptoberFest will also feature a food pavilion, merchandise area and an expanded music lineup. Bands will be announced soon.
Tickets will be available for $10 beginning August 15 at TicketWeb.com and at some participating breweries (vist the HoptoberFest Facebook page for details). Tickets purchased on the day of the event will be $15.
