Freddy has been a Jazz Standard stalwart since 2003, and this engagement is another highlight of our ongoing JS:10 anniversary series. On his latest album, Talk To Me (High Note, 2011), Freddy ex­plores an eclectic repertoire ranging from two Bill Withers songs (“Can We Pretend” and “Lovely Day”) to such Tin Pan Alley rarities as “I Was Telling Her About You.” Stanley Crouch wrote: “As a swinging romantic balladeer, Freddy Cole has a special position in the pantheon of contemporary American music.
