Featuring two vocalists, crushing guitars, asphyxiating bass, rich analog synths and pummeling drums, BEAK return tonight with the angular doomsday prog metal found on their recently released debut, Eyrie. Of the effort, The Phoenix says one word describes the debut, “brutal…listening to it is probably akin to what it feels like to be one of those crash-test dummies going through a windshield,” and The Aquarian praises the bands ability to create “a world in which there is no escape and the only thing left to do is listen to Eyrie all over again. The eerie prog-rock release from the quintet is just the start to where the band can go. In a word: surprising.” Whether it’s brutal or surprising or both, we’re excited to hear the new tunes tonight when they’ll be joined by hard rock four piece ARRIVER. These guys seamlessly blend classic and modern strains of rock, metal and prog into a vicious hybrid of ass-kickery. PLANETSEXPLODER recently released EP is a brutal sonic explosion of unrelenting heaviness that that lives up to their reputation for being so loud they were asked to relocate out of their old practice space so as not to upset the neighbors. Featuring screamale vocals, dueling guitars and Moog synths creating their own take on metal-psych-punk, ALMA NEGRA has been called “the ultimate marriage of local garage and metal” by the Reader. The newish quartet is comprised of past and current members of BLASTED DIPLOMATS, NONES, TELENOVA and YAKUZA to name just a few and we can’t think of any outfit better to kick off the heaviness tonight.
