We’ll always fondly remember ED SCHRADER as the puppet master to a room full of sweaty, excited, dancing kids at the DEERHUNTER/DAN DEACON/NO AGE Logan Square Auditorium post-Lollapalooza round robin and his MUSIC BEAT consists of similarly epic good times. SCHRADER’s baritone croon goes from sprinting to sliding on the MUSIC BEAT’s debut LP, Jazz Mind. The LP features a couple of big collaborators, including NO AGE’s RANDY RANDALL and MATMOS, and in the words of Stereogum, the album showcases that “they can do frothy, feral trashcan screams, demented psychedelic garage and tunefully sinister indie-pop.” T’BONE’s guitar-oriented debut, Mt. Trashmore takes the seemingly introspective genre of post-rock and adds a dose of ridiculousness to keep things ridiculously fresh, incorporating 70s rock, instrumental math and punk energy into cheekily anthemic tracks, and he opens tonight’s free good times celebrating show.
