Jello Biafra & The Guantanamo School of Medicine
plus Megachurch / Ohio Civil War
Sunday, Aug 26, 2012 8:30 PM EDT
(7:30 PM Doors)
Beachland Ballroom, Cleveland, OH
There should be a Punk Rock Hall of Fame for guys like Jello Biafra, if only because this gadfly simply can't help but needle and goad any powers that be. Certainly if the Rock Hall came calling -- and they should, because Jello was the frontman for highly influential band The Dead Kennedys -- Jello has never held back his barbs from established organizations or corporations. His penchant for fire-breathing satire has gotten him threatened, beaten up, imprisoned, and who knows what else; these tendencies have also made Jello one of rock's best frontmen, bar none. He brings his latest backing group, The Guantanamo School of Medicine, to the Beachland tonight. We couldn't have a show of this caliber if we didn't invite some of Cleveland's best punk rockers as well. Opening is the piledriving instrumental rock of Megachurch, who sometimes sound like a cross between King Crimson and Ministry; we'll also have a special rare appearance by Ohio Civil War, an all-star band featuring members of The Conservatives, Proletarian Art Threat, and the Chargers Street Gang, like Matt Fish, chef/owner at Melt!
