Royal Pines are a perfect example of what can be done with established modes of music and how music can progress. On the surface, Come Forth is an exceptional alt-country record, but theres' more to it than that; i.e., the influence of early 80's alternative rock, psychedelia, SST post-punk, and Lee Hazlewood's dramatic country-pop.
Dark rustic shoegaze rock from the heartland, whiskey soaked and rambling rock for the dark hearted.
Blues guitar, low-fi production, and a whistled countermelody that serves as a chorus and is almost cheery. It all works together with the dark vocals to create an intriguing, ghostly -folk sound.
Date on the calendar but the band dissolved before the show rolled around. Remnants of Horse Operas and Parlor King joined forces with some Furious Frank to honor the commitment as Horse King. Intended as a one-off show, people liked it and asked us to play again. Then again. And yet again. It feels good to be wanted. The project exists now as its own creature. "Beaten down but never without hope, they become the voice of those on the cusp of criminality." -Bluesbunny
