21 years and over
Baltimore-based LOWER DENS released their sophomore LP, Nootropics earlier this spring and with this new LP, in the words of Pitchfork, the band made it clear they’re an outfit “you can’t ignore anymore.” Robotic synths, ambient drift, stark percussion and JANA HUNTER’s airy, lilting, throaty and masculine androgynous vocals work together to create LOWER DENS’ own sound world filled with unique texture and atmosphere. Montreal-based NO JOY, whose dream-like, intoxicating vocals and melancholy grange-based guitar riffs are on lovely display on their newest LP, Ghost Blonde, out now via Mexican Summer return and fellow Baltimorean ALAN RESNIC opens the show with something completely unexpected. RESNIC has been through Chicago with the WHAM CITY COMEDY TOUR, EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE, and as a musician with one of our favorites, DAN DEACON, but takes the stage tonight with a “Ted-talk” style lecture on the importance of 3D scanning and avatar creation. Get here early for the unexpected and swoon all night with an international night of downright lovely tunes.
