Tonight we’re joined by Chicago Magazine & Curbside Splendor presenting ‘A Night of Words & Music’ celebrating the release of novels by Chicago authors JOE MENO (author of the best-selling novel Hairstyles of the Damned and now releasing Office Girl), PATRICK SOMERVILLE (author of The Cradle and now releasing The Bright River) and JAC JEMC (releasing My Only Wife). Helping to celebrate these new releases are Chicago-based chamber op collective THE SCOTLAND YARD GOSPEL CHOIR, a group whose work Chicago Mag described as “a mini epic of bummed-out indie pop, filled with jangling guitars, rapturous string arrangements, horn fanfares, and morosely funny references to infidelity, betrayals, STDs, loneliness, and general disillusionment.” CLOUDBIRDS are ex-THE M’s bandmates who, using three-part harmonies and intertwining guitars, play heart-felt, down-home folk music. ANGELINA LUCERO opens tonight’s cultural celebration.
