21 years and over
It’s been over four years since we’ve hosted Chicago composer TOBIN SUMMERFIELD’s NEVER ENOUGH HOPE, a 20-plus piece ensemble features scores of saxophones, vibraphones and violins mingling with guitar, bass, trumps and dual drum kits. The outfit has recently created a Kickstarter campaign to help fund their upcoming LP, The Gravity of Our Commitment. We’re excited to hear what the amorphous ensemble. Featuring sax, cello and violin in addition to guitar and drums, A LIGHT SLEEPER is a quintet that continues to explore minimalism in composition while also experimenting heavily with live-looping and improvisation. Rounding out our well-rounded evening of classy instruments is the CHICAGO SCRATCH ORCHESTRA. There’s no fixed CSO roster, but looking through their roll call is like browsing through an instrument catalogue, so while you never know exactly what you’ll be witnessing, you pretty much know it will be unlike anything you’ve experienced before.
