Toronto-based electro/”haute rock” YOUNG EMPIRES recently released their debut EP, Wake All My Youth, to much fanfare, being touted as delivering “an EP on which every song has been layered and arranged with the utmost care, and delivered with the most devastating precision” by When The Gramophone Rings and praised by the NME for having “consummately summated this generations’ achievements in Rock. Not they’re total retread merchants; no, they’re master weavers of our disparate indie threads, forging a fine tapestry of future disco.” Over the course of three EPs, Vancouver, BC-based duo HUMANS have honed their inventive blend of electro meets indie meets tribal pop. With the release of their latest EP, Traps, they’ve made it clear that their goal is to inspire unrestricted, unabashed dancing and reveal a building intensity that ushers in brilliant electro steeped in lush percussion. TAUGHT ABROAD, the new project from local singer, musician and producer CHRIS SADEK mixes indie vocals with downtempo production and sophisticated lyrics to create something wholly his own, and open here tonight.
