With Stareyes (Trouble & Bass), Raw Q & Golden Child (Konkrete Jungle/Driven AM), and host MC Trac (BBE Records/Konkrete Jungle)
Konkrete Jungle is the longest-running jungle and drum & bass night on the planet. Nearly everyone who is anyone in New York City got their start here, and without it jungle and drum & bass would eventually cease to exist in this city. From its humble beginnings in a little bar on Chrystie Street in the Lower East Side to hosting events in some of the hottest clubs in the city and the nation, Konkrete Jungle has been the proving ground for junglists of every discipline.
Tonight's Konkrete Jungle party features award-winning British producer Roni Size, who first took the world by storm in 1997 with his drum & bass collective Reprazent. The group's debut album New Forms (1997) won the Mercury Music Prize and sold Platinum, driven by the success of tracks like "Watching Windows," "Heroes," and "Brown Paper Bag." Since that earth-shattering debut, Size has released several additional projects with Reprazent, including In the Mode (2000) and a 2008 deluxe reissue of New Forms under the Universal imprint. He also recently marked the reopening of Britol's Colston Hall with a performance that paired the collective with a live orchestra and choir. In addition, he has released several solo albums, including Touching Down (2002) and Return to V (2005). With new Reprazent and solo projects in the pipeline, Size continues to be a potent force on the worldwide electronic music scene.
