Part of what made the titillating The Stewardesses the most profitable 3-D film in history was that it was being edited while it was screening in theaters. It started playing in two cities with a self-imposed X rating; as money rolled in, scenes were reshot and new prints rushed to theaters (sorry; our version’s rated R). People returned every week to see what was new. The action takes place one night in the lives of a crew of mod stewardesses. These sassy swingers take part in sex with pilots, nude yoga, an acid trip, “Stewardess Night” at a local club, and poorly-acted lesbian activity. And lest you write this off as merely a cheesy soft-porn skin flick, be aware that the technology developed by director Al Silliman Jr. and the Stereovision International Company eventually contributed to important films like Jaws 3-D. See the lusty stewardesses leap from the screen onto your lap!
