Tonight Brooklyn, NY native Rebecca Pronsky previews songs from her upcoming album (to be recorded in August) with her full band.  Her music is a haunting mix of dark city tales and open country grooves, "as urban as it is rural, not afraid to be sophisticated" (Maverick UK).  NPR says "her voice conveys the wisdom of experience over a wash of noirishly twangy guitars."  She sounds "more retro than redneck" (Creative Loafing) with an onstage performance that is "literate, passionate and wry." (Time Out NY) 

Woodsy Pride
Woodsy Pride is one of those bands that speak telepathically, every turn and phrase is dictated by live feel. Situated somewhere between 90's era Drag City bands like Palace and Smog as well as the shambling death blues of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Woodsy Pride play a haunted western music that is built on poetic vocals, beautiful acoustics and country rock of the highest order. Steeped in the Southern Gothic tradition. the trio of Uriah Theriault, Bill Augustus and John Studer compose songs that are cut from the same cloth as western archetypes such as Neil Young, John Fogerty and Will Oldham; songwriters who are known for testing the boundaries of traditional song forms in order to reveal hymns of their own design. Their self-titled EP displays an angular autumnal sound that weaves intricate tales of love and woe over elegantly composed guitar phrases. It's a beautifully arranged record full of earthen tones and dark hues that reflect the long shadows cast on American music.
