Over the course of the past decade, jazz harmonica player Grégoire Maret has emerged as a unique and compelling new voice across a wide spectrum of the modern jazz world. His voluminous stage and session credits range from Jacky Terrasson and Lionel Loueke to Prince and Elton John. Along the way, Maret has redefined the role of the harmonica – in Marcus Miller’s words, “carrying the instrument into the 21st century with prowess, passion, and creativity.” His self–titled debut CD Grégoire Maret (E-1 Entertainment) explores songs by Pat Metheny, Stevie Wonder, and Brazilian composers Ivan Lins and Milton Nascimento; Maret and long–time collaborator Federico Gonzalez Peña composed two ambitious three–part works, “Crepuscule Suite” and “Children’s Suite.”
