Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
From 2001-2006, the Chicago Blackout Festival was the first purely Midwest rock & roll festival, celebrating the yearly release of Horizontal Action Magazine. Last year marked its triumphant return and we’re pleased to welcome back HoZac, now a dynamic independent label that’s released 100 records in their first five years of operation, to curate a fest for 2012. We could not be more excited that headlining our Sunday comedown is legendary psychedelic rock pioneer ROKY ERICKSON. If you’re of the mindset that your alphabetized iPod playlist should start with 13th FLOOR ELEVATORS and end with THE ZOMBIES, you’ll be flipping your lid just like us to have MR. ERICKSON playing our stage. Joining in the closing Blackout Ceremonies are Detroit’s space punk superstars HUMAN EYE and two bands that hail from Connecticut but could not be more different – spastic post poppers ESTROGEN HIGHS and gorgeously effed up psychedelic folk pop from MEDICATION. BARE MUTANTS’ gorgeously laid back sound and smoke machine obsession kicks off our Sunday with their tightly-wound, tense-yet-tranquil wall of sound.
