21 years and over
It’s been seven years since P.G. SIX have graced the Bottle stage and we’re pleased to welcome them back here tonight for our first FREE Monday of May. In the past decade, NYC folkie PAT GUBLER has recorded a series of weird, gorgeous records under the name of P.G. SIX with a revolving cast of musicians, but for the fifth P.G. SIX LP, last summer’s Starry Mind – their first LP in four year out via Drag City – GUBLER put himself at the forefront of a real band that imbued his eccentric songs with rock & roll grit and breathtaking majesty. GUBLER’s voice is, as usual, very listenable – able to be both soft and unforced and cracking with emotion and the tracks on the LP continues to make beauty out of traditional elements. Adding the element of rock chaos, “doesn’t change that, but it does make it a bit more exciting,” in the glowing words of Dusted and we can’t wait to welcome them back here tonight. They’re joined by avant-prog experimental trio MOONRISES and electro folk psych purveyors OPEN SEX. SPIRES THAT IN THE SUNSET RISE celebrates the release of their fifth LP, Ancient patience Wills It Again here tonight. Featuring harmonium, guitar, slide, banjo, bowed psaltery, cello, flute, autoharp, spike fiddle and mbira while toying with folk traditions but never fully embracing its stylings, STITSR remains a truly unique vision and we’re pleased to welcome them back for the first time in over four years.
