Shellabration is excited to announce that the iconic rock band Foreigner has been confirmed to headline this year’s annual Shellabration event. Slated for Friday, June 15th, the event will return for the second year in a row to the historic Oleson Park Bandshell inFort Dodge. “We’re absolutely stoked to have landed Foreigner”, said Shellabration President, Jim Reed. “When our board talked about wanting to build on the excitement generated by last year’s REO Speedwagon event, Foreigner was toward the top of the list”. 2011 tied a Shellabration record with between 5,500-5,600 people in attendance a feat they had achieved only one other time on the Beach Boys original play date in the summer of 2005.
Having seen the band four times in the last five years, Reed can attest to the energy and strength of their live performance. “It’s a high octane live set, says Reed. What’s striking about a Foreigner concert is the sheer number of hits they have. Jukebox Hero, Feels Like the First Time, Hot Blooded, Cold as Ice, Urgent, Waiting for a Girl Like You, Double Vision, I Want to Know What Love Is and many more, they play them all”. Foreigner’s catalog boasts an impressive sixteen Top 30 hits including nine Top 10 singles.
Sold-out shows on a recent world tour demonstrate the band’s formidable musical arsenal that continues to propel album sales, now exceeding 70 million. At Foreigner’s core is founder Mick Jones, the visionary maestro whose stylistic songwriting, indelible guitar hooks and multi-layered talents continue to escalate Foreigner’s influence more than 30 years into the game. In addition to Jones, Foreigner’s dynamic lineup includes lead vocalist Kelly Hansen from the 80’s rock band Hurricane, former Dokken bass guitarist Jeff Pilson, multi-instrumentalist and twenty year Foreigner band member Tom Gimbel, keyboardist Michael Bluestein and drummer Mark Schulman. In 2009 Foreigner released a new CD entitled “Can’t Slow Down” which entered the Billboard chart in the Top 30 and had great success on radio with two Top 20 singles. In 2011 they joined forces with music contemporaries Journey and Night Ranger for an extensiveUS summer tour.
